What is a computer backup
First, let me start by saying thank you for visiting my Blog. I hope it is helpful to you.
Now on to my first blog. I have been asked multiple times about backup and disk cloning, what they are and why are they needed.
A back-up is where your computer backs up your important files, pictures, documents and other settings that you may need. This is part of a good plan for if anything goes wrong with your computer and is good for most people.
However, for a person that depends on their computer, such as a home based business or larger business I recommend not only the back-up but also a disk clone. Now at this point you may want to know the difference between the two.
A disk clone, unlike a back-up, makes a copy of your main hard drive. This is the crucial part. While the back-up saves the files, a disk clone will save everything on your computer as it is.
A clone is just what it sounds like, an exact copy of your hard drive. With a back-up, you will need to re-install the operating system, whatever special software you use, such as Microsoft Office, QuickBooks or other software and your back-up program.
With the clone, all that may need done is to install the cloned hard drive, run any updates that may be done and run the last back-up. This can save hours of work, time and money. Instead of hours installing all of the software, programs and whatever else is needed, you can normally be back running your business in hours instead of a full day or days.
